What would cryo treatment improve on?

Assuming it's done correctly, of course, what improvements does cryogenic treatment make with cables?
Would anyone who's done it care to respond? As I mentioned in a recent forum post, I'm considering trying this on some spare cables (or even on my main cables) as an experiment based on what a trusted friend told me. But I want more input before I proceed.
Oddly, I ran a search of this forum and didn't find much actual information as to what it actually improves upon. I suspect a lower noise floor (i.e., improved resolution), better bass response and a more natural sound. But that's conjecture ...
