Hey Doc! Cobalt transformer question

Posted by MikeW on June 4, 2002 at 12:51:32:

Hey Doc,

Occasionally, I see used cobalt transformers (EXO-35 and the like) on the forum for sale used.

I did a search on the forum on the EXO-35 and it seems there were different cobalt setups such as different types of winding wire or wire insulation. I believe the non-standard (if there is such a thing) wire and insulation on the cobalt transformers were special ordered or experimental transformers during the early stages of cobalt transformer fun. And maybe still is to a point.

Would you clarify for me in this forum so it can be searched on later what the typical EXO-35/36 winding wire and insulation was so that if the audiophile selling the cobalts did not remember anything special about the winding wire then what the buyer of the used cobalt transfomers could expect wire would be in them?

Thanks,
MikeW
