Could tubes be in her future?

There are vintage offerings...like Fisher, Scott and Sherwood that would fit within that budget. Is she capable of hearing and appreciating what your system brings to the table? If required would she get proper speakers? Just an option from a fellow music lover who must operate on a budget.
