Nobody has compared to spectron with digital inputs...

Nobody has compared to spectron with digital inputs yet - also, spectron has the Troubadour integrated which has about the same power as the panny I think, and direct digital input - although with digital inputs it's $2500 I believe. It would be more comparable with it's direct digital input and presumably audiophile grade parts from top to bottom.
However the Spectron has not had the advantage of using a digital input in any comparison to the panny yet, so it's still an unknown. In fact, I believe it was Tyson who commented that the Spectron was at the disadvantage of being at the end of a long chain and therefore made no direct comparison, which supported his theory about the benefits of a direct digital input.
However, aside from the Troubadour, the Musician III will have direct digital input and a ton more power (probably not required for most). And, Spectron amps with special speaker wire can measure the distortion at the speaker terminals, feed that back to the amp, and clear up even that - so they say. Frightening...
