Cary SL-100 preamp: User comments welcomed

Posted by Alex F. on July 30, 2017 at 17:33:42:

I am considering the purchase of a new Cary SL-100 solid-state preamplifier. Cary describes its sonics as tube-like. Being a veteran tube audiophile, I hope that means the preamp is very smooth and has a grain-free liquidity to it. Also, I favor tonality that is neutral to a bit warm--any added brightness in the upper midrange and treble gives me a major headache. A big soundstage would be nice, too. If the SL-100 has these characteristics, along with being extremely quiet (i.e., minimal hum and hiss), I am very interested.

Thank you for any comments that would help result in a decision whether or not to purchase an SL-100.
