Gainclones and Gaincards

Posted by R Browne on March 23, 2012 at 15:31:53:

The Audio Sector Patek is reputed to be one of the best commercially available gainclones. I've never heard it but it has received favorable reviews. The 47 Labs Gaincard was the original and inspired the DIY gainclone movement. I've had one for a few months and like it a lot.

There is also the 47 Labs Shigaraki integrated amp that was based on the Gaincard circuit and is a bet more user friendly with a continuous rather than stepped volume control, two additional inputs and more conventional binding posts. A pre-owned one can be a good value. I had one for a few years which is what led me to the Gaincard.

47 Labs recently started offering kit components including a 47 Labs/47 Treasure - Model 0347 - 30 wpc amp.
