for the IA-7 Integrated

Rather than go the “processor” / pre-amp/power amp route, we chose an Integrated Amplifier to represent the cornerstone of this room’s electronics …. again preferring a Nuforce product (see the “Dedicated Listening Room 5.1” for our other Nuforce choice)! Integrated amplifiers generally represent a purity of signal unencumbered by processing and digital “artifacts”. The IA-7 is highly representative of this genre’s ideals: very neutral throughout the whole frequency range, a wide power band required for driving speakers of differing sensitivities (100 watts x 2!) and simplicity of functioning. The Nuforce achieves these criteria with flying colors, providing a stellar, transparent representation of the signal it receives; this neutrality is especially important, as it allows us to truly examine the sound of the speakers we test without coloring the audio with its own imprint. Just what the doctor ordered!

This level of sophistication should come as no surprise as the IA-7 utilizes the same amplifier circuit boards as those in Nuforce’s acclaimed Ref8V2 Monoblocks, providing much appreciated dynamic headroom when required. The compact (1.75” x 8.5” x 16”) dimensions are a result of Nuforce’s well established usage of exceedingly efficient switching amplifier technology. The back panel is full with 2 standard RCA inputs, two 3.5mm stereo inputs, a set of pre-outs, two pairs of high quality speaker binding posts which accept banana plugs or bare wire. The front panel is simplicity personified, with only a pair of high quality knobs (of two different color choices; neat feature!), controlling input source/power and volume/mute. Equally as utilitarian, the small remote has all necessary controls (input source, power, volume, mute) and is easy to use with -and fit IN- one hand!

Nuforce is a creative, exciting company manufacturing unique products like the IA-7 which break new ground in technology & value; like the rest of our selected reference equipment, we feel confident in highly recommending it to our friends …

Product Weakness: Runs somewhat hot, size makes it difficult to match up with other components... if that is important to you!
Product Strengths: Size, simplicity, power, neutrality; build quality; originality; price vs. performance!
