RE: Shanling A3000

Posted by Brett A on January 19, 2008 at 12:10:16:

I just bought a Shanling A3000 about six weeks ago (so it's still burning in)and I can't tell you how happy I am with it.

I find it produces a massive, deep soundstage with enough space around the instruments to practically walk through. The imaging is clear and detailed without ever being edgy or uncomfortable to the ears.

I am no expert on headphone listening. I just have a pair of Grado SR 60 that I use when I don't want to bother my wife. As far as I can tell, its qualities transfer directly through the headphone jack (less the room characteristics, of course).

One thing that's not just exactly perfect about it is that the motor that drives the volume knob through the remote creates a slight RF buzzing through the amp. This is more noticeable through the headphones.

I'll also note that it has benefited greatly form a power cord upgrade.
