The difference is that you need a good tube amp with lots of power. The big VTL tube amps will drive anything just like the best solid state. Even hard to drive Magneplanars. I never heard a speaker yet not being able to be driven with this amp. Shoreline 800 watt mono blocks are also the ticket. To me these beat any solidstate amp in terms of sound quality including the Halcros.
