On the SL1200, I took off the Sony and went for a Technics SP-10Mk2 stock mat. The Sony mat is different. It would appear to work better for classical but it is not clear that it works better for BB King. I am going to have to try that again.
My opinion continues to be that SL1200 with an MC cartridge sounds like it is playing with an MM cart. Nice and sexy, with appropriate dynamics, but not enough delicacy and grace.
The Denon DP100 next to it is clearly a better table. It is like listening to a different record sometimes.
