Bling It On! Part I of a Series...

We got SL1200 tunes! Bling-y tunes but tunes nonetheless!

First reactions...
1) I think this is the lightest table I have ever owned - by a fair ways. It is positively featherweight against its competition in my living room. What I moved off the rack to give it space is far from the heaviest in my living room, but it was at least 3x the weight.
2) In terms of value for money, a used SL1200 is an entirely competent table for what they go for. One could do worse by spending more money.
3) I can see why people like this table - it's eminently easy to use and set up. There are no worries about pitch per se.
4) It does not get 'delicacy' done quite right. It may be the cart match (I have used three so far, Empire 4000D/II, Empire 1000 ZE/X, Koetsu Rosewood Signature) but I expect it is more that there is resonance which is not tamed.

Spinning Oscar Peterson 'We Get Requests' now after some Herbie Hancock before... Got Sarah Vaughn on deck.

More comments to come...

Associated Equipment:
Table: Technics SL1200LTD (1996) with gratuitous Technics sticker on the front, using the gel-filled mat from a Sony TTS-8000 but otherwise stock bling.
Cart: Koetsu Rosewood Signature
Speakers: Jadis Eurythmies
Associated Electronics: black-color Japanese solid-state stuff (with good specs) from the early 80s (sworn to secrecy by another AA member - I won't tell until he allows me to - suffice it to say, it is good enough)
