you can play before having to add some water to the boiler..;-)I'm guessing that the tonearm park position does not indicate direction of platter rotation. But rather that the tonearm needs to sweep greater than 90 degrees positive just prior to the needle drop.
Then there is the issue of the amount of time it takes from a cold start to 33-1/3 rpm. Maybe 5 or six minutes for it to build up a full head of steam...;^}
At least the, uh, artist.....has managed to embody the pun of 'steam punk' by using a steam powered record player to play a punk rock Lp. That much is kind of cool. He should just cover it in glass and display it somewhere. Nice workmanship, really.
