Hi InterstageTranny
I really enjoyed reading your post. Thanks for that.!!I am still 'digesting'it,a lot of great info there.Got to find a new direction to solve the LP problem.
As I have hi output carts,(I know their not the greatest)and they haven't done the trick with LP's(in fact they are way off) I could try one of the more decent Stantons, but I think I would like to look at some MC's.The arm has an 18g mass ,and that would be good for MC's.
As far as the 45's sounding good with their bigger grooves and the i ml sylus, that obviously matches those grooves I am starting to think that sylus shape is an area to look at.I don't think it's disussed much.Matching a decent cart with the BEST and most correct stylus shape irrespective of brand or type, maybe this is the area to study.Maybe the best sounding cartridges just happen to have the correct shape. I have a feeling that carts with sylii that are small and fine to fit those tiny lp grooves could be a reason..( with correct compliance etc,) This is purely my ,probably totally wrong , observation.I would like to hear a view on that.
It's just that big jump up of sound quality on those 45's with a matching correct stylus shape that has got me thinking.
Thanks to everyone who has relpied.I do appreciate that.
