I didn't mean to start a fuss over equipment in use. My point was that a good cartridge will reveal the shortcomings of a cheap table...put that Dyna that you paid a grand for on a flimsy MCS turntable and it will play all the sounds the motor makes :) Obviously a high end table will draw more from the cartridge....but I've never heard anyone say that a mid-level cartridge was too much for a 1200. This is of interest to me because I use a 1200. I've been stepping up through the Ortophone 2m's...I'm at the Bronze level lol. I'm trying to decide whether to start upgrading the table (the inexpensive KAB mods which I can have done locally with parts) and a better arm...or take the plunge for a better used table....maybe an Emotion or MM7...I just want these records to keep sounding better lol.
