Here we go. Not a lot of changes in my 'table love affair...
1. Dee-Jay portable table. Everything was plastic and the case was covered in denim (early 70's).
2. Sears "stereo" circa 1976-77. Soon to play Beatles "Rock and Roll" and Abba "Super Trooper".
3. JIL/Citizen stereo system. Still plastic 'table around 1980 coinciding with the discovery of Prog (First ELP and Genesis LPs bought or gifted).
The quest then taking a different/better direction-
4. Technics SLQ-200, with an assortment of AT and Technics cartridges (also a few flirtations with Ortofon and Shure) from Christmas 1984 to early 1990. JVC integrated amp and Emerson CD player (Stereophile said there was no difference bettween that one and the Carver I REALLY wanted...).
5. Linn Axis/Atiko/K-9 combination. The stereo took a better turn as well, with a Precision Fidelity C-7 pre and Linn Powertek amp. Speakers were various, from Paisley Research and various DIY false starts...
After that, the system was sold and I moved to Florida for a while (it was a girl thing), then I came back, and got another system...
6. Linn Basik/Basik arm/K-9 cartridge... The system took many twists and turns at this point, but the basik lasted for a few more years until...
7. Linn Axis/Akito II/K-9 (again). This included the discovery of MC carts (ahhh, MUCH better)... There was an issue of regret over selling my old system and moving. But once I got the $$$ again, I was off and running, and with a better pre, power, speakers, etc...
The system is almost to the point of where I like it. Of course, with the way things are going (waiting to send my current Ortofon Kontra A to smoundsmith), I'll probably consider a better table again... Soon...
