Those things become less important with longer arms. So a long arm has everything to do with practical.
Yes, I'm nostalgic about the time before the CD renegades. I'm nostalgical about the time vinyl was almost the exclusive domain for punk rockers, hip hoppers and the techno/dance crowd.
