Dave, thanks for the eloquent review. I've had my eye on the Trans-fi for some time, but this is the first review I've read from someone I know (at least by e-mail) and can trust. For me, and what caught my eye in the first place, one other advantage of the Trans-fi is that it mounts on top of the table; no holes need be drilled for a vertical shaft. This is good news for someone messing around with slate plinths.
