thanks very much for the correction -I think it was somewhere else on asylum that I read about your alleged involvement in the bearing design. Thanks very much for giving due where it belongs (i.e. to Willi).
Nice explanation of the friction bearing. Most designers use high mass designs to increasing the moment of inertia and thus lessen the effect of stylus drag. I agree that introducing additional drag coupled with a high torque motor is an elegant solution to achieve a similar effect (thus simulating a high mass design) without any of the negative effect of high mass platters. And it shows sonically :)
