No I didn't do that, however as I said I did a regular cleaning after steaming using Nitty Gritty Pure 2 with VPI Nylon brush (with firm action). If the steaming had loosened gunk I would think the subsequent cleaning would have gotten it.Moreover it seem to me that your claim for usage of a microfiber cloth would hold even where steaming were not used, i.e. one could say that the cleaning fluids loosen gunk but vacuuming does not remove it. Of course others claim that using methods other than vacuuming, cloths or brushes, to remove gunk simply pushes it back into the grooves.
I prefer to avoid the merry-go-round of claims and counter claims and focus on results. Steaming sounded promising and so I tried it.
Should I pick up a microfiber cloth perhaps I'll have another go.
Everything matters, don't forget to tweak your placebos!
