Thanks Guys. A great direction you pointed me to. Quite a list to focus on. I'm on it and I'll be back for more.
But, ringing might be caused by bearing scares me. I'm just concerned about a non-usable platter shaft or bearing. But I'll certainly check the bearing ball - seemed OK but I'll get to my bike shop for another. I poured in Mobil 1 0W-20 and then tried regular 10W-40 - ringing sounded the same for both. What scares me was it was completely bone dry when I got it - hope it was not used much this way.
Even though the idler wheel looks and feels good, I bet you're right about needing replacement. I hear a little muddy sounding click on every revolution :-( If I can get past the motor and ringing, I'll tackle the idler. I've been reading Joseph Esmilla's site for years and saw his success with tire replacement. I'm always following Joseph and this table is another example :-)
Lastly, the tonearm - did not come with one. Or maybe I should say I elected to not purchase it. Original tonearm was a gorgeous and flawless Pickering 190, the seller wanted more than I wanted to pay, and I have a nice AT ATP12T that has been begging to be used.
Thanks Again, Joe
