RE: How to remove the plastic body on the DL-103

I have been using the woodshells for a while now on the 103. Exactly what Thomas had on the pictures.

I also have the SS retipped 103R

To me, the wooden shell 103 sounds better than the SS retipped 103R. Heck, even my Koetsu Rosewood is now a bench warmer ever since.

I am still contemplating on slicing up the SS retipped 103R and place it on the Panzerholz headshell. I know it has to be good! Maybe in due time but the one that really stops me is that onced it was retipped from SS, the angle of the stylus is now different than the original. I do not know if that will be a major factor in the outcome.

CAVEAT: All necessary tweaks apply. The 103 in a wooden headshell sounds better on a heavy arm. In my system, they sound glorious on SME 3012 and Thomas Schick 12" arm (it is actually a 16") with 14gms and greater arm mass than on my SME 3009 and OL Silver. I am using Orsonic AV101S (16gms) on the Schick and at present, a Yamamoto Ebony Wooden headshell(12 gms not shown)on the 3012.

regards and enjoy!
