John, I believe there are too many variables to make the "should" statement... I would change "should" to "could".
As you know, just different formulations of dye in a CD-R can change how it sounds.. also the strength of the laser when burning, length and uniformity of pits and lands, vibration on the recorder, cable-matching etc. etc.
also, as to what has been aluded here by others, what were the differences between the turntable versus the CD-R recorder that the pre-amp was seeing that in itself would make each have it's own sound signature?
So many variables... but.. when you get down to it.. it was a great time, and a very memorable day for me... maybe, sometime in the future a new plan can be drawn up and try this again... I would love to get together again with these guys, I was very glad to have met everyone!Rick
