listening to didge, eighteen inches from the tweeter, and no spirits. I admire Stan's work ethic, and having once met him at a listening session, his generosity. But listening (not mastering), tis all about the gestalt.
Many in these 'showdown' threads have alluded to a vinyl preference. Even if using didge for background or archiving (or whatever). While I could relax without liquid support (definitely is work in a modern world), I simply cannot do it with didge. At all.
Not hard to knock the 'ritual'. Or of course the intensity of some OCD/vinyl behaviours. Or its fussiness, its increasing obscurity, or required hands on participation. But age wise, I feel I've begun that gentle downward slope of time, on life's journey. And I'll not waste a second of it, listening to didge. Drunk, stoned, or sober.
