Mike summed it up nicely: "really; we had a great time. John is a real gentleman, a class act, and a very knowledgable and thoughtful person. i feel we connected and became friends. we both took the matter of the test very seriously and yet it was never personal; we were both seekers of the truth".
The "Challenge" turned out to be two of the most relaxing days I've had in a long time. I've slept like a baby since then. Mike was a gracious host tending to the needs of "vinyl asylum" members. Need more be said? John is one fine gentleman. If he lived in the great Pacific NW I'm sure we'd be long term friends. And he could enjoy more of the great scenery around Mike's house from where we spied people hiking on a nearby ridge while enjoying the culinary skills of members of the Pacific Northwest Audio Society.
When delivering some photos to Mike yesterday we talked of just how much fun we'd had. It doesn't get much better than hanging out with friends listening to music. Of course, the Lagavulin Single Malt didn't hurt. He made a point of how many friendships he'd developed through his love of music and its reproduction. Couldn't agree more.
Yes, Mike and John were a bit nervous about the outcome of the Challenge both being competitors but in the end they enjoyed the fruits of their labors-a new friendship.
Under sunny (of course!) White Center/Seattle skies, Gill
