Doubtful it's new, unless AudioSoul lucked on some new-old stock.I keep my MMT set low or at zero (turning it up a bit only if it skitters across the first few grooves) - otherwise, I find it has a tendency to get "stuck" and mistrack, especially about two-thirds to three-quarters of the way in. I'm using a Grado Reference Reference tracking at about 1.9 grams.
The arm has a viscous damper in the pivot post - this is adjustable by tightening or loosening the screw-cap. I had to play around with this to find an optimum setting - it had more effect than the anti-skate adjustment in eliminating mistracking.
