Then put it back in its box when done. Sure why not?Or you could remove the mat when you use the Zerodust - does that give enough clearance?
Or you could gently raise the Zerodust up to the stylus, which might be a little risky, but is certainly more convenient.
Or put the Zerodust gel thingy on a piece of cardboard and keep it covered when not in use - that might be more convenient.
