Re: how to kill a ground hum


You need to test if your TT/phono stage/pre-amp is properly grounded.

To do this, connect a copper wire to the ground post on your phono stage or pre-amp. Connect the other end of this wire to an exposed (non-painted) metal surface, i.e. plumbing or radiator pipe, rod, etc.

If the hum disappears, your system is now properly grounded. Then, I suggest making the grounding wire connection permanent.
