I agree with this philosophy. Every time you upgrade a component it should be to get the optimal future system idealized to your taste.On my Mustang I did handling, brakes, transmission, rear end and then finally the motor. If I did the motor first I would have broken everything else or killed myself driving on stock brake drums.
It would be nice if you could plop down a 100k for a total optimized system, but most of us go at it a piece at a time.
Getting the best piece of the puzzle we can afford at the time we upgrade is a great stategy.
