I believe that the guy who wrote that description meant arm, not amp. The round circular part attaches to the arm tube and the stand sits on the plinth. That's the only way it makes sense to me. Mosin described a very similar set-up and said it was quite pricey, something in the order of $150.00 US. This one is $49.00 I think, quite a difference. I think that if I were looking for a safety raiser I would seek out that one made by Audio Technica. Something about a magnet wrapped around the arm tube makes me leary of the Alphason. Probably just me being paranoid.Happy listening
