Re: Just received my Thorens last night.

Your post does not include enough information for me to do anything but guess and provide general tips for your new Thorens.

If you have the Thorens TP-16 arm, adjusting the bearings is possible and may be necessary. The TP-16 arm is a bit clunky but works very well with the Stanton cartridge you have paired with it.

Beware of generic "cheap" belts. The TD-125 is sensitive when it comes to the belt. I have had no luck at all with generic belts lasting more than a month or two, but LP Gear sourced ones seem to last for years.

The capacitors in the speed control circuit are old and will need replacement. This may be needed right now. It is an easy job and the caps are available, the semiconductors are not easily sourced. Update the unit now for reliable service in the future.

The sprung suspension of the TD-125 will not tolerate any "swing" of your equipment stand. Like a Linn, carefully adjustment of the suspension so that it bounces level will yield significant performance benefits. I prefer my deck to be on a wall mounted shelf.

There are reams of information here in the archives as well as at the Analog Dept and the Vinyl Engine.
