Thanks Jim,
I agree the position of the motor is very limited so it can't have much to do with that. The belt might be too small I suppose, but it is a genuine Linn belt I bought from a dealer so this is unlikely. Will check the seating of the grommets as you suggest.Many thanks for the help.
