Rek O Kut Pics of newest LP-34 project

I sold plinth 2 with my LP-34 to an asylum friend. For some reason that affects hot rodder types, we always seem to be selling our favorite turntables and then are left with the desire to build something new.

For this project, I purchased a really rough LP-34 on fleeze bay. Unfortunately the tires are very stiff. However the Rek O Kut labeled motor runs very smoothly and is rated at 1/4 amp. This thing packs some real torque.

I am taking this with me this week on my road trip to meet with ScottRT and MintVinyl. I wish the tires were supple like the ones that were on my last version. However it should be enough to convey some of the magic of an idler drive even if it is not as quiet as I would like.

I promised pictures of the project so you can see just how the thing is coming together.

The optional picture shows the stock LP-324 steel plate. I cleaned this up and then shot it with Gray Hammerite. I love this stuff. It exhibits a very nostalgic look and has great durability.

Yes the top flame maple is lighter than the body. The oil based polyurethane gets more amber over time. Plus the top piece only has 3 coats of urethane instead of the bases 8 coats.

I will do up the top piece later. I wanted it to be fairly hardened for the trip west.

Cheers!

More pics to follow soon.
