How to conterbalance Ortofon Rmg-212 w/SPU

I have the RMG-212 and two SPU cartridges Classic SPU-GM/E and the Classic SPU-Mono GM. It seems that to balance the cartridge (before adding tracking force) one loosens the screw at the top of bearing and moves the spring. Is this right?
