Also, how do you measure overhang?Different alignments have different overhangs, but rarely if ever is there such a drastic difference as you describe. I've never heard of such a thing.
For a given length tonearm, there is a unique overhang for a specific alignment. For Stevenson's alignment to have an overhang of 8-mm, your tonearm would have to have an effective length of 446.9-mm. That's a distance of 17.6-inches from stylus to pivot.
I suspect you might be doing something wrong somewhere.
