In Reply to: After over 300 flawless transactions, I have had to file 2 claims this week on Ebay for non-receipt of items! A trend??? posted by Ray-o-Stat on May 5, 2007 at 19:57:11:
... i hear ya -- and i understand how you really just want your items instead of getting the money back.is the 2nd problem really an ebay issue, though, or is it just a random loss that any carrier might have had?
i think when doing lots of transactions on ebay, one must assume that a certain -- though small -- percent will not work out. asking careful questions before bidding and using a trained eye to spot 'questionable' things help quite a bit.
in about 4-500 transactions in 7 years i have had:
* 1 case where the seller deliberately deceived me (though in fairness and retrospect i should have asked more questions)
* 2 cases where the seller did not ship an item (fortunately both were low $, and it was clear that the sellers had done this to a bunch of people after building up a good amount of positive feedback)i got my money back on all 3, but paypal was only helpful in 1 case.
i'm sorry for your trouble. my experience is that the number of issues with ebay is relatively flat (in % terms) and has only changed with increased volume of transactions that i've done.
