my experience has been with glass, granite, and wooden shelving and, most recently, a wall-mounted shelf (wood/metal). caveat: i have used non-suspended turntables which (i think) are more sensitive to the shelf on which they are placed.my (limited, personal) experience put the wall-mounted shelf way above all others. from a sonic perspective, i ranked the floor-standing shelves in order of best to worst: wood (thick maple), granite, glass.
i presume that your suspended turntable should be a bit less sensitive to the material of the shelf on which it sits. that said, if you have suspended wooden floors, i think that a wall-mounted shelf will be a substantial improvement. it was one of the single biggest improvements i've ever experienced in audio.
there are no absolutes, of course.
my goal was to find the wall-mounted shelf that had the least sonic signature of its own.
