Re: TPOD!

Hi Joseph,

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I read your 71A page, and was surprised that the psu chokes used are nickel! Nickel is mostly reserved for signal chokes. Thomas' arm is in my shortlist some day (maybe just the perfect match for an EMT idler drive *if only one could be donated to me* =). Ortofon has a new arm + spu combo, but is $$$ ~$1.8k for the 12"! Link below... I think Ortofon should have stuck with the old RM series design and just used better materials and tighter tolerances, I think they did for a while but only in very limited quantities.

I have a minty pair of 414Z's. Have plans to use it in a 18.5"W x 11.75"D x 36"H enclosure with a 5"depth x 2.5"dia tube port (or converted to golden rectangle port). All internal dims. My 1" compression drivers on top has phenolic diaphs and I plan to mount them on ~550Hz-650Hz horns, and then maybe use a helper horn tweeter for 'air' extension. Anyways, that's the plan if I could get it started by next month with help from an unc who has carpentry skills.

regards,
fred
