Dual 1019 and 1229 bearings

I've been pondering the recent Lenco craze. The price of Lencos and scarcity of them have me pondering other idler options. Would it be worth it to take a Dual 1019 or 1229, strip it down to the bare essentials and put it on a nice looking slab of wood? I know the platters should be heavy enough, folks say the motors are great, and the looks appeal to me. I trust I can get enough of the extraneous mechanisms off to satisfy me. However, I don't know what the bearings are like. Are the good enough to make the project worth it? How do they compare to the Lenco heavy platter model bearings?
