I used a X-10v3 with a vintage 1987 JVC cd player and it made that inexpensive player sound pretty darn good. I never tried it with my analog setup but I could see how the X-10v3 might help to tame a bright sounding system or perhaps give a neutral system a bit of tube sound. It really can't do any harm other than additional "distortion" from added connections and circuitry noise. But that's splitting hairs in my opinion and if the added buffering "distortion" provides a more pleasing sound when recording to digital than use it and enjoy the music. The X-10v3 provides a slight signal boost (1-2dB) but otherwise can't do any harm and the signal gain might actually be a benefit in your situation.Tom
