Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

it depends on the room, the location of the tt, and the tt.

this thread brings up a few questions.

can digitally recorded vinyl equal or surpass direct vinyl performance regardless of method of recording?

not in my experience....and the digital is not really very close.

with the right tt; is acoustic resonance a problem?

i can't say for sure since i have never had my tt in another room. my guess is that it's a very small issue in reality for me in my room. the room is large and my tt is on the side of the room near the wall (see pictures on my system page).

the design of my tt's stand vitually eliminates floor resonance; and the mass of the plinth and platter would likely reduce to insignificance any airborn effect on them. how much effect might air-born acoustic resonance have on my arm and cartridge? the arm is a linear tracker with a very solid mounting bracket.....and the surface of the arm and cartridge is very 'spare'......it seems that there would be only a very slight effect.

i think any purely airborn feedback would be so low in the noise floor as to be barely audible.

in practice; one of the outstanding aspects of my tt's performance is how music played at 'warp 9' holds together so solidly and with such ease. an area where digital simply loses it's coherence on the peaks where the density of the data taxes the limits of digital.

and John; if you are still 'game' you need to come out to visit myself and Ki.....so we can settle a few of these questions.
