Isn't that what it's all about?Seriously, though, I think that part of what set the Pistols et al apart was that in so many ways it WASN'T about the music, it was about the theater and pageantry and over-the-top-ness of it all. The music is just all we have left, and it luckily is emotionally sincere enough to recall all the other stuff. Perhaps in part because punks didn't have the chops, the music was often pure emotion if it was any good. It's just that the music was the tip of the iceberg; the emotion extended to drugs, drinking and debauchery far beyond music.
