I would definitely say the most comically awful album I've ever listened to is Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force. "All Your Ships are Burned" redefines 'classic'.A lot of fusion from the early to mid '70s would also qualify for this, but if I named names, some people would probably crucify me for criticizing their virtuoso idols.
The Boss did pretty well with Nebraska, and Leonard Cohen has had his moments, but I can't take them very seriously because they're still alive. Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" takes the cake for most depressing singer-songwriter album (although it's rather good, so it really doesn't belong in the torture LP's thread).
