of what constitutes "punk" post 1977 (and specifically as regards "rock") sure has changed since The Silver Beatles. Early on the Beatles could (briefly) give the Stones a good run at punk 'tude. They grew out of that phase pretty quickly though.As it stands right now, Johnny Lydon really doesn't seem much more punk than Ringo, especially regarding touring for bucks. I suppose the major difference there is Lydon needed the dough more than Ringo ever will, and THAT is a big difference.
That's not selling out a punk ethos? No, I suppose that's buying in to a non-punk ethos.
