Re: Did anyone notice in the 40th anniversary issue of Rolling Stone that Ringo described The Beatles as a punk band?

As Wendell pointed out, the music scene circa 1962-63, versus these four (five including Stu) young guys in black leather, drinking and taking pills on stage (often taken to stay awake as they played for 10 to 12 hours a night in Hamburg), tampons taped to their foreheads, etc., and then consider the overdriven sonics of the music as they presented it then, I could see it being considered "punk" of some sort.
