How about the lower priced Thorens tables?

The TD-110 manual, TD-115 automatic, for example. I owned a 110, and it looks like Thorens took the tonearm as seriously as its comparatively low price (which for a Thorens was NOT cheap) permitted. Thorens took pains to lower tonearm mass, for suitability with high compliance cartridges.

It's one of the few moderately priced TT's in which you can adjust azimuth by twisting the headshell. And their cartrige alignment jig is the most comprehensive I've seen, even though the purists will use a stylus protractor or similar.

The only potential problem, though, is reliability. First, the connectors in the headshell wand started to be unreliable. Lately, the tachometer for motor feedback control went bad, so it doesn't spin at the correct speed.

Cosmetically, it frankly looks like BPC. But when you take a closer look at it, it is NOT plastic - the deck itself is blackened metal on a spring suspension.

And, what about the later Thorens tables? Items like the TD-180 and above. Did Thorens do a typical quality nosedive or are all of these good performers as well?
