RE: Michell Gyro Bearing Blues

195.93.21.66

Hi All,

Its been a while since I'd used my Gyro (Gyro SE, D.C. motor circa 2001), I'd previously been using a Technics SL10 (it's a real dream to use). Anyhoo, I fired it up (I had packed it away in its original packaging and so had to re-build it), and when I happened to put my ear reaaal close to the spindle, I could hear a light scraping sound. No worries, I'll ring Michell, get a new ball bearing, everything should be fine and dandy...

Wrong! The noise was still there. Maybe the noise was always there and I just hadn't noticed. Maybe in the intervening months I've turned terribly anal..

Well, Guys, I'm hoping for some perceptive rational explanation and quick fix. Advice welcome from all.

Regards,

T.J.
