Stick with the stock mat, skip any form of clamping, and just enjoy the music. The P9 is a very well thought out, holistic system. Every attempt I've heard to improve it caused the 'table's excellent rhythmic drive and energy to suffer, even if the tweak brought about one or two isolated sonic gains - usually just differences rather than improvements, IME. Roy Gandy knows how to build a 'table that really plays music, and the P9 is his spare-no-expense best offering. The only thing that the P9 needs to perform optimally is a good light, rigid support; this isn't an option or a tweak, it's a necessity.
