MMT's were a bidget tonearm in its heydey: Sonically a bit on the warmer side. Today, they would be decent arms in the range of a Rega arm, but more flexible in the range of cartridges you can use with the arm. Regas do not work well with Grados's mechanically, and while I wouldn't run a Grado on a MMT (warm on warm) they will track with no problem. The MMT also has the option of user applied dampening.
MMT's competed against the Linn Basik, which later evolved into the Linn Akito, a $700 arm today, if memory serves me right.
Rewiring the MMT is quite a profitable mod, sonic wise. It responds well to a number of tweaks mechanically also.
