I purchased the Extreme phone "none mat" and "speed mat" and tried on my Technics SL-1000 MKII... the static was so bad that I had to pry the Speed mat from the record each time I removed the record.. I have since replaced the None mat/speed mat combination with my stock mat. One of the selling points to these mats is they suppossedly "drain" the static... well... apparently, my platter/turntable are not bonded to a source to drain the static. My question:
Is there any reason I could not/should not add a bonding wire from the base (one of the screws under the turntable base) and bond it to the bonding screw on my Pre-amp that my tonearm bonding wire is bonded to.
Is there a reason why the table is not bonded? I don't want to do any harm to the complicated electronics that are involved with this table...
Has anyone bonded their Technics SL-1000 MKII or SP-10 MKII?
Rick
