Why?It is built to a higher standard.
I have not owned a PT-6 but have had an FT-3, FT-4, and an MMT.
In the world of mid priced medium mass arms, the 309 is designed better, has better bearings, is more rigid, is machined better and uses a better mounting and adjustment system than any of the Sumiko/Audioquest designs (of course IMO and so forth).
The 309 also sounds better than any of the Sumiko arms I have experience with.
The 309 also costs about 3x as much as a PT-9 (which replaces the discontinued PT-6).
